About

I have been teaching struggling readers and writers for 18 years now at North Smithfield Elementary School.  I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Rhode Island College and my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from Lesley University. The most influential moment of my career was when I was trained as a Reading Recovery teacher, as it changed what I believed was possible for readers who struggle the most.  I love teaching reading and writing, I love reading about brain research, and I love collaborating with my peers.  You can reach me at tlafreniere@nsps.us or connect with me via Twitter @TracyLafreniere
